mama, baby!

So every morning, taylor does the cutest thing. She has this canopy of stuffed animals over her bed. They used to be all cute up there, but now they're just thrown all over. Well, every morning when I go to get taylor out of her bed, She points up to her canopy and says baby. I get a different one down for her everytime and she hugs her baby. She sits there and holds it, she learned how to rock one this weekend, and she kisses it. They she lays in my bed and watches her morning cartoons til I'm ready to go downstairs for breakfast! I love it. I love that she's attatched to these "Babies" we've gotten her, or others have gotten her. There are a few favorites in the bunch. The little stuffed Boston Terrier Dog that chris got her for Valentine's day is a favorite. And the teddy bear chris got me/her when she was born. And her carebear she got for easter. She also sleeps with a "baby" but wants a new one in the morning. It's too stinkin cute!

Here's her canopy... It's not reall big, so it's filled to the brim already. I think I need to make a bigger one.

Loungin on my bed with her green elephant. She loves to kiss this one on the end of his trunk :) It's funny.

Pigtails

Taylor wore pigtails to church for the first time today. It was actually only the 2nd time I've ever put her hair in pigtails. The first time (I think it was will's birthday maybe) They were a bit more forward on her head and chris said they looked like horns. So what if they did? it was still cute. But this time, i did try to set them a bit further back on her head. Here's my cutie.

This one's for you Mom

My mom is a painter and an amazing one. She's always after me to take landscape pictures and flower pictures and such for her to paint. And I don't always do it. But her irises bloomed sometime last night/this morning (seriously, only one out of the 8 that are there was there yesterday) and it's misting outside right now, so I decided it'd be a good time to go take some pictures... here's what came out of it.

Taylor Can Walk!

Here's Taylor walking Video...

The New and Improved Taylor

Well, she's not actually improved (she couldn't get any better) but she's doing alot more. It's so funny to see all she's learning. She's walking ALL OVER now. She's still pretty wobbly, but she does prefer walking to crawling. She kinda walks sideways alot though. It makes me laugh. She takes side steps, inching her way to her destination :) I'll videotape it soon and put it up.

She's also learned to roll her arms "round and round" when I sing the wheels on the bus. It's so cute. My mom actually taught her to do that.

She is now shushing me too :) Me and chris the other night were showing her how to put her finger up to her mouth and say "shhhhh" and now she likes to do it at me when I'm telling her no! :) What a little attitude my dear daughter has. Where she gets it from is a mystery to me! LOL.

I actually swear I heard her say "no,no" this morning to me when I was cleaning up some stuff she was getting into. :) It's so funny I can't help but laugh and smile (most of the time) but I'm almost afraid it'll turn into a game to her. It's cute now for her to talk back, but in year or two (probably less) I'm sure it'll drive me nuts.

That's been our life lately. With other boring stuff in between. I'll spare you those details. I'm getting so excited planning her party though :) I can't believe my little baby is almost a year old! Time has flown.

The Crafty Side of Me.

I am hooked! I can't quit crafting right now. I've had all the ideas swimming in my head for like a year or more and now they're all coming to life... it's great. It started with Will's car mat. Then I decided to make a quiet book. (I kinda copied your idea candace. I hope you take it as flattery... Your book was so cute. I had to make one for Taylor.)

Then I made this floor pillow. I've wanted to make a pillow for taylor to lay on and watch tv, or read a book... or just do whatever with. But I didn't quite know how to make one... I've never made a pillow before. Silly I know... all you do is sew a square, but I was still nervous about making one. I also put a tic-tac-toe board on the other side of the pillow with a pocket and game pieces. Anyways, I used a premade pillow (24" x 24") and bought 30" of 45" fabric (one white, one print.) I trimed them down to 25 1/2 " by 25 1/2". I used some of the excess to make a pocket (I think my pocket is kinda ghetto. I'm sure those of you who are pros at sewing could do better.) I painted (with puff paint) the white fabric with a game board, and then cut the game pieces from felt. My game pieces are about 5 inches a piece and my pocket is like 7 1/2" finished. It's a bit of a tight squeeze though, cause there are 6 of each game piece (x's and o's.) I know she can't play tic-tac-toe yet, but she enjoys playing with the felt, and me and chris can play with when we're bored. I might make a checkerboard one for the new baby.

I also had enough fabric to make this simple bag/purse. It's not anything super sturdy, but I did need a library bag to keep all our library books in... and this works perfectly. :) I'm really excited about it. I'm sure you all could figure out a much better way to make a bag, but for never having made a purse before, I'm proud of myself.

Anyways, now I have so many ideas on things i want to do. I don't know where to start next. But now that I have actually STARTED, I don't think I'll be able to stop... maybe this is part of my nesting coming through. :) Who knows. But I'm enjoying all this creativity.
